The idea for foot-shaped running shoes came about in the 1990’s when Golden’s father Hawk found that he could relieve much of the foot pain facing his customers at his running store by making them buy their shoes extra big and then by skipping the bottom couple of lace eyelets to allow the foot to relax and spread out naturally. He found it was particularly effective for bunions, neuromas, sesamoiditis, Plantar Fasciosis/Fasciitis and general forefoot pain.
